One Night Only: The Bearded Bakers Team Up with 6HEAD for an Old World-Inspired Degustation

The Bearded Baker boys, makers of Knafeh — your favourite travelling dessert that comes with a side of drums and dancing — is taking over 6HEAD in The Rocks for one night only. 

Bringing foodies together for an elevated immersive dining experience, the fine-dining feast dubbed The Old City will feature traditional foods of the Middle East, making the most of traditional flavour profiles and cooking techniques, presented in a multi-course degustation on the harbour.

Welcome cocktails and bites including spiced nuts and traditionally prepared mountain bread will greet guests before the dinner commences. Prepared by Mother Nabila and presented by 6HEAD Executive Chef, Sean Hall, the meal will include:

Baba ghanough, hummus, capsicum labne, kibbeh nayeh (lamb tartare), fatet batenjan (fried eggplant), falafel, samke harra (spicy baked fish), lobster and caviar shish barak (dumplings), Persian shirazi salad, mujadara (lentils and rice), and 6HEAD tomahawk and musakhan (sumac spiced chicken). 

Dessert is served as the world-famous Knafeh with booza and candied praline, but expect to see pistachio ice-cream and crushed baklava. 

The Old City is available has opened bookings for Wednesday, 24 February. With one sitting only at 6pm, the once-in-a-lifetime event will set you back $250pp. Tables must be booked in groups of four, so bring along your best mates and get ready for a damn good time. Book now.

  • To celebrate World Gin Day, and for one week only, gin and food lovers can try nagashi-sōmen—translating to ā€˜flowing noodles’— which sees noodles sent down a bamboo chute for diners to collect with chopsticks. The one-off experience will be hosted at Kid Kyoto, where guests can enjoy their flowing noodles alongside a menu paired with delicious KI NO BI Gin cocktails. Purchase tickets here.

  • Feeling the cold? Fireball Whisky and Bar Luca have teamed up for the ultimate firey menu.   • For two nights only, on Tuesday the 20th and Tuesday 27th of June, Graeme Hunt, Head Chef of Sydney’s trending late-night bar and dining venue at Zaffi, will be stepping up to the kitchen at award-winning bar PS40. Pop-up guests can expect a mosaic of colourful Lebanese-inspired bar snacks paired with exclusive midweek sips made by the mastermind behind the experimental bar, Michael Chiem.
  • Fan of Cinderella? The Great Hall is transforming into The Royal Palace for an enchanting high tea from July 1-2. There will be dancing and fun, and then Cinderella will run out of the venue leaving behind her glass slipper—the search for the missing beauty will begin.   • Grill’d has dropped two new burgers, and they’re beyond anything we could have imagined. Taking inspiration from Mexico, Grilld’s two new burgers are a Zesty Mexi and Luxe Nacho Burger. The Zesty Mexi features a black bean pattie with corn chips, tasty cheese, slaw, jalapenos, and chipotle mayo mixed with green tomatillo lime salsa. For meat lovers, the Luxe Nacho Burger is the same as the Zesty Mexi, but with a premium Wagyu pattie.
