Carlton & United Breweries, the brewer behind many of your favourite beers, is looking into the past with its new releases. CUB has brought Reschs Dinner Ale back to the bottle shop, a beer that has been discontinued since the early 1990s. CUB has also brought back Richmond Lager in Victoria, and Cairns Draught in Queensland.
“During the uncertainty of the pandemic many beer lovers have felt a strong sense of nostalgia, and that is set to continue,” said CUB marketing manager Marc Lord.
“Beer lovers have long been calling for the Cairns Draught, Reschs Dinner Ale and Richmond Lager classics to be revived. The people have spoken – and we’ve listened.”
The return has been driven by Reschs Appreciation Society, a grassroots movement that saw CUB bring back Reschs Silver Bullet cans in 2020.
“I have obviously never had it before, it’s long before my time, however, the old blokes in Reschs Appreciation Society haven’t shut up about it!”
“After seeing all the old mirrors, posters and paintings with the DA logo in pretty much every pub in Sydney I asked a few members, ‘was it actually that big back in the day?’ They would respond as if they were talking about their firstborn child, these people are seriously obsessed with this beer!” Reschs Appreciation Society spokesperson, Molly Wheelan told Brews News.
Reschs Dinner Ale is available at First Choice Liquor and Liquorland stores in New South Wales now.
Mexican restaurant chain Mad Mex has dropped a new protein, and it’s one of the most popular street foods in Mexico.
Enter, Chicken Al Pastor. It’s traditionally made with pork and grilled on a spinning rotisserie with a pineapple sitting a top, but Mad Mex has put its own spin on it, serving chicken bathed in an Al Pastor marinade with a touch of juicy pineapple.
You can order the protein-packed filling in your favourite burrito, bowl, quesadilla, nachos, or in a taco.
As always, these things are here for a good time, not a long time. Pop into your local Mad Mex restaurant, order delivery or through the Mad Mex app today.
