Aussie Pubs Could Be Hit With Fines For Pouring Pints Wrong

They're calling them the pint police.

Pubs across Australia could be hit with a maximum fine of $220,000 if they’re caught under-pouring pints.

Trade measurement inspectors from the National Measurement Institute (NMI) have already begun patrols in hundreds of licensed premises across the country.

Minister for Science and Technology Melissa Price said the inspectors would test trading practices and the impact of inaccurate measurements on profits.

Expect to see the ‘Pint Police’ at your local pub from now on, making sure punters get their money’s worth. Don’t worry, the Pint Police will be in plain-clothes, and travel to 320 bars, clubs, restaurants and breweries to check compliance.

The new rules come into play after an audit in 2019 revealed 30% of venues were not pouring drinks correctly. A further 4% of alcohol dispensers were also found to be under-pouring.

There is also talk of the Federal Government expected to announce a 50% cut in draught beer in the upcoming budget. This means your schooner could cost around 35 cents less.

It’s understood the move is to help bring Australians back into pubs and restaurants after the hospitality industry suffered immensely during the Covid pandemic.

Mad Mex’s New Menu Item Is Inspired by a Popular Mexican Street Food

mad mex chicken al pastor

Mexican restaurant chain Mad Mex has dropped a new protein, and it’s one of the most popular street foods in Mexico.

Enter, Chicken Al Pastor. It’s traditionally made with pork and grilled on a spinning rotisserie with a pineapple sitting a top, but Mad Mex has put its own spin on it, serving chicken bathed in an Al Pastor marinade with a touch of juicy pineapple.

You can order the protein-packed filling in your favourite burrito, bowl, quesadilla, nachos, or in a taco.

As always, these things are here for a good time, not a long time. Pop into your local Mad Mex restaurant, order delivery or through the Mad Mex app today.
