These Stores, Supermarkets, & Fast Food Chains Are Open on New Year’s Day This Year

Eat the Taco Bell and start your resolutions on January 2.

I know that technically¬†we’re supposed to kick off our new year’s resolutions with the new year, but I will reserve my healthy eating aspirations for January 2-when I’m not suffering from an NYE-induced hangover and desperate for a remedy (read: Taco Bell). Whether you’re joining my procrastination train or planning to kick off 2023 with a green juice, you’ll need to double-check what’s actually open first.

These are the stores, supermarkets, and restaurants open on January 1, 2023: 

Stores Open on New Year’s Day

  • Best Buy:¬†Most stores closed on New Year’s Day but curbside pickup will be available between 11 am and 7 pm.¬†
  • Bed, Bath & Beyond:¬†Most stores open 10 am to 6 pm.
  • Dick’s Sporting Goods:¬†Most stores are open normal business hours.
  • CVS:¬†Most stores open regular business hours, but some will close early. Check your location for details.
  • Home Depot:¬†Most stores are open from 9 am to 8 pm.¬†
  • HomeGoods:¬†Most stores are open from 9:30 am to 6 pm.¬†
  • Macy’s: Most stores open 11 am to 9 pm.
  • Marshalls:¬†Most stores are open from 10 am to 6 pm.
  • Nordstrom:¬†Most stores are open 11 am to 6 pm.¬†
  • Target:¬†All stores open regular business hours.¬†
  • TJ Maxx:¬†Most stores open 9:30 am to 6 pm.¬†
  • Walgreens:¬†Most stores are open regular hours, but pharmacy hours will vary by location.
  • Walmart:¬†All stores are open for regular hours.¬†

Mad Mex’s New Menu Item Is Inspired by a Popular Mexican Street Food

Mexican restaurant chain Mad Mex has dropped a new protein, and it’s one of the most popular street foods in Mexico.

Enter, Chicken Al Pastor. It’s traditionally made with pork and grilled on a spinning rotisserie with a pineapple sitting a top, but Mad Mex has put its own spin on it, serving chicken bathed in an Al Pastor marinade with a touch of juicy pineapple.

You can order the protein-packed filling in your favourite burrito, bowl, quesadilla, nachos, or in a taco.
