Melbourne’s New Mövenpick Hotel Is Bringing Us A Daily Chocolate Hour

Every day.

An ice-cream hotel with a daily chocolate hour? Honestly, it’s something out of a dream.

This dream will soon come to life with the Mövenpick Hotel Melbourne on Spencer Street opening in the coming weeks, marking the Swiss brand’s second site here in Australia.

But how will they incorporate their famous sweet treats at their vacation destination, you ask? Don’t you worry, they won’t disappoint.

First off, they have a chocolate hour, every day. Think happy hour, but with chocolate. It works like this: with every chocolate flavoured drink (hot choccy, affogato, mocha etc) you get a free dessert (think eclair, brownie, truffle).

Mövenpick’s hotel all offer the same menus, so going off the Hobart venue, we know that there’s all the Mövenpick ice cream you could ever want, as well as some fun offerings like juice-blended energy shots and their infamous Swiss carrot cake.

As for general food and bev offerings, they really cater to all. If you’re a sweet tooth they’ve totally got you, but if you’re looking for healthier options, they’ve got ‘Go Healthy’ menus, with endless and actually delicious options.

Running in collaboration with Accor, Mövenpick Hotel Melbourne can cater to 172 guests, within the new 78-storey Premier Tower development on Spencer Street. It’s decked out with boutique interiors, and comes complete with a 25-metre swimming pool, sauna and gym.

Mövenpick’s Spencer Street hotel will also be home to a new southeast Asian restaurant and bar, which is yet to be 100% finalised but is looking pretty sleek thanks to designs by Greymatters.

Find Mövenpick Hotel Melbourne on Spencer at 160 Spencer Street, Melbourne, from May 2021. Head to the Accor website for bookings and other information.

Mad Mex’s New Menu Item Is Inspired by a Popular Mexican Street Food

mad mex chicken al pastor

Mexican restaurant chain Mad Mex has dropped a new protein, and it’s one of the most popular street foods in Mexico.

Enter, Chicken Al Pastor. It’s traditionally made with pork and grilled on a spinning rotisserie with a pineapple sitting a top, but Mad Mex has put its own spin on it, serving chicken bathed in an Al Pastor marinade with a touch of juicy pineapple.

You can order the protein-packed filling in your favourite burrito, bowl, quesadilla, nachos, or in a taco.

As always, these things are here for a good time, not a long time. Pop into your local Mad Mex restaurant, order delivery or through the Mad Mex app today.
