Most reckon Christmas is the most wonderful time of the year, but let’s face it, Easter is the true wondrous holiday. When else is it socially acceptable to stuff our faces with chocolate before 9 am? Speaking of indulgence, the masters at Messina are bringing us the most decadent dessert of them all, a glorious, gooey, hot cross bun snail that you bake at home—so technically, you can say it’s homemade to your guests.

The spiced sticky hot cross bun dough is laced with choc chips, vanilla custard and topped with a cinnamon malt caramel (no raisins in sight). We didn’t even tell you the best part. It comes with a 1-litre triple choc gelato hot tub to bathe the snail in or at least scoop on top.

Before eating, you’ll have to bake it for 20-25 mins, but that’s all the work that needs to be done.

It’s designed to be eaten with the custom Easter Hot Tub, so don’t forget it. Each layer is made exclusively with Messina house-made chocolate, using Ecuadorian cocoa. You’ll find layers of milk chocolate gelato, toasted white chocolate mousse, topped with Ecuadorian dark chocolate crack because it’s not easter without cracking chocolate.

To get your hands on this Easter treat, you will need to pre-order it here, then choose your pick up day and time, from select stores over 3 days, from Thursday 1, April to Sunday 4, April. It will set you back $65, but that’s dessert done for the whole family.

Mad Mex’s New Menu Item Is Inspired by a Popular Mexican Street Food

mad mex chicken al pastor

Mexican restaurant chain Mad Mex has dropped a new protein, and it’s one of the most popular street foods in Mexico.

Enter, Chicken Al Pastor. It’s traditionally made with pork and grilled on a spinning rotisserie with a pineapple sitting a top, but Mad Mex has put its own spin on it, serving chicken bathed in an Al Pastor marinade with a touch of juicy pineapple.

You can order the protein-packed filling in your favourite burrito, bowl, quesadilla, nachos, or in a taco.

As always, these things are here for a good time, not a long time. Pop into your local Mad Mex restaurant, order delivery or through the Mad Mex app today.
