Disneyland Is Getting a New Waterfront Bar

Disneyland just keeps getting better and better. Not only is the park opening a brewery and not only does the new Avatar land serve boozy boba cocktails, but now the happiest place on Earth is opening a “waterfront” bar inside the new Pixar Pier (formerly Paradise Pier). Seriously, why even go anywhere else on vacation?

The new bar will replace both Cove Bar and Ariel’s Grotto in Disney’s California Adventure and, according to Disney Parks Blog, it will be called the Lamplight Lounge. The bar will open on June 23 along with the park’s new Pixar movie-themed attractions, and feature gastropub-style food (including Cove Bar’s famous lobster nachos) and signature cocktails (fingers crossed for Up Martinis and Harvey Wall-E Bangers).

But perhaps more important than the drinks or snacks is the view. The bar is set on a man-made lake, making it a waterfront destination. “This seaside lounge contains a full bar with picturesque waterfront views from both upstairs and downstairs,” the blog reports. “At night, outdoor seating provides views of the illuminated Pixar Pier and ‘World of Color.'” The “World of Color,” for those who don’t own season passes, is a nightly show featuring over a thousand musical water fountains, lasers and HD projections on mist screens-all of which sounds great but would be even better with a bit of a Buzz Lightyear, if you know what we mean.

According to the blog, the bar’s decor will also include nods to Pixar such as “concept art, a quick sketch on a napkin, knick-knacks and collectable toys of beloved Pixar characters.” Those who want to have one last Neverland Tea at the Cove Bar should get there when it reopens for a brief window from March 16 until the end of May. After that, it’s goodbye Little Mermaid and hello The Incredibles. Remember, though, those lobster nachos are sticking around. Phew.
