Gin and Tonic Flavored Marmalade Makes Breakfast Taste Like Happy Hour

There’s now a way to enjoy the taste of happy hour while you’re eating breakfast: spreadable Gin & Tonic flavored marmalade.

Firebox, a London retailer, is selling a product called Spreadable Gin for $14. It’s made with actual gin, and the tonic side of the spread comes from sugar, lemon, water and quinine extract. If you’re confused about when you would ever use this edible cocktail, Firebox suggests that you “spread it, eat it, drink it, bake with it, devour it straight from the jar,” and that it “goes very well in a cucumber sandwich.” There’s only one way to make a cucumber sandwich more British, and it’s with Gin & Tonic marmalade.

“We’d like to propose a toast … smothered with Spreadable Gin,” Firebox writes in the product description. “No longer confined to a cut glass tumbler mixed up with tonic water; our booze-infused preserve is one seriously versatile gourmet ingredient.”

Firebox is the same company that brought the world Unicorn Tears Gin, Unicorn Tears Black Gin and Mermaid Tears Vodka. Sadly, like the alcoholic tears of those mythical creatures, Spreadable Gin isn’t available in the U.S. because of alcohol and food shipping restrictions. All is not lost for people interested in boozy, cocktail-flavored marmalades, though. A marmalade is simply a preserve made from citrus fruit that’s prepared like a jam, and it’s relatively easy to put a cocktail twist on it. You might not be able to get your hands on quinine extract for a G&T take, but you can make your own Negroni Marmalade, Whiskey Sour Marmalade and, for the Bloody Mary folks, Bacon, Onion & Tequila Marmalade.

Even if you can’t get Spreadable Gin to taste it for yourself, take it as inspiration to up your breakfast game with homemade boozy marmalade.
