The Italian Riviera might have chic naval stripe umbrella photos that hang in houses and galleries, but here in Australia we have some of the best beaches in the world, and now we have a Chargrill Charlie’s umbrella photo of our own to prove it.
Bondi Rescue Lifeguard, Anthony Glick, partnered with the iconic chicken shop, Chargrill Charlie’s to create a limited-edition range of beach towels that celebrate two Sydney icons—our glistening golden beaches and everyone’s favourite chicken shop Chargrill Charlie’s.
Recreating the Italian Riviera lined with custom Chargrill Charlie’s umbrellas across the coastline, the towel series heroes—from above—three Sydney beaches: Bondi, Coogee and Shelly Beach—each just a step away from Chargrill Charlie’s famous beachside stores. They serve as a fun but important reminder that we don’t need to travel far to find paradise.
Each towel is made with a unique sand-free and quick-dry material and features the signature ‘Chargrill Charlie’s x Destination Towels’ pattern on the back, which is Glick’s brand he founded in 2018.
“I’ve always been fascinated by the ocean and grew up by the beach. What I love most about our beaches is their accessibility; they’re just a footpath away from a buzzing and fast-paced city,” says Glick.

“I’ve been visiting Chargrill Charlie’s for as long as I can remember, so it’s a real treat to have their new Bondi store just seconds away from the water. It’s been an incredible opportunity to work alongside a brand that shares my core values of community while adding in the fun and excitement that is synonymous with Chargrill Charlie’s. I can’t wait for locals to get their hands on our towels”.
The ‘Chargrill Charlie’s x Destination Towels’ series is available to purchase for $50.00, from all Chargrill Charlie’s stores and online at shop.chargrillcharlies.com from Friday, 5 March. Although, they won’t be there forever, so get in quick.
Mexican restaurant chain Mad Mex has dropped a new protein, and it’s one of the most popular street foods in Mexico.
Enter, Chicken Al Pastor. It’s traditionally made with pork and grilled on a spinning rotisserie with a pineapple sitting a top, but Mad Mex has put its own spin on it, serving chicken bathed in an Al Pastor marinade with a touch of juicy pineapple.
You can order the protein-packed filling in your favourite burrito, bowl, quesadilla, nachos, or in a taco.
As always, these things are here for a good time, not a long time. Pop into your local Mad Mex restaurant, order delivery or through the Mad Mex app today.
