Let’s face it, the best part about the Sydney Royal Easter Show isn’t the show bags, but the food. Where else can you get chips on a stick and shaved ice? Every year, the Easter Show debuts some kind of new wild and wonderful festival food, and because last year was cancelled, they certainly made up for it this year. We scoured the showgrounds to rank the best novelty foods you will find at the Sydney Royal Easter Show this year.

1. Deep Fried Bacon On A Stick
Stick food connoisseurs are going to want to stop by the Burger Head food truck for bacon on a stick. Dubbed Bacon Head, this delicious creation is deep fried to crispy perfection. You can then smother it in a special Burger Head sauce, chilli sauce, or maple aioli. Get this tasty treat on a stick in The Stables at the Sydney Royal Easter Show.

2. Waffle Popz
In The Stables, you will find Waffle Popz—a soft warm waffle on a stick dipped in chocolate and topped with all your favourite toppings from M&M’s to strawberry crumble. This sweet treat almost took the top spot on this list, but bacon on a stick is hard to beat. With that said, Waffle Popz is the best sweet option you will find at the show this year. There are other waffles on stick food trucks dotted around the Showgrounds, but this one takes the cake.

3. Dole Whip
It’s the most anticipated food item this year, and we had a list of just sweet treats, it would be number one. The Dole Whip, an iconic dairy-free dessert straight from Disneyland is not to be missed. Seriously, it’s refreshing, and basically a cup of pure joy. It’s gluten-free and vegan too, so there is no excuse not to get one. Available in pineapple, strawberry, mango, and watermelon, the Dole Whip is a favourite. Find it in the Woolworths Fresh Food Dome.

4. Chips On A Stick
Chips on a stick is a classic and a strong contender on this list. Spiralled potato deep-fried on a stick and made to order with your choice of seasonings. You’ll probably need two or three if you can’t decide between chicken salt, or lemon pepper, or chilli, or bbq, or satay or salt & vinegar. It’s a crowd-pleaser, that’s easy to walk around with, which is what you want from food on a stick. There are several food trucks selling chips on a stick around the Showground.

5. Dumplings On A Stick
When East meets West, we get dumplings on a stick. Courtesy of Let’s Do Yum Cha, these show stoppers are a newcomer to the Royal Sydney Easter Show and are already becoming a crowd-favourite. Available in pork, chicken, or vegetable, the traditional dumplings are served show-style—fried on a stick. The dumplings are tasty, and the fact they are on a stick, just makes them that much better.

6. Pizza Burger
You will find the pizza burger at Big Tony’s, near the Cattle Lawn, on Orana Parade. In theory, the pizza burger sounds reasonable. Good things come in two right? Well, in this case, the pizza burger missed the mark for us. Perhaps, if it was drowned in a little more sauce, it would be a stand out. With that said, if you’re curious about the mashup, give it a try and let us know what you think.

7. Cheese On A Stick
Here is another show classic. Generations of showgoers have indulged in the hand-dipped, fried cheese stick. Although it’s at the bottom of our list, that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t try it yourself. There were just other foods on a stick that was better than this traditional treat. Look for the bright yellow stand for cheese on a stick, and corndogs.
