From Dunkin Donuts to Red Frogs, Here’s What to Expect at GABS This Year

Taste 117 brand new, creative and quirky craft beers released only at GABS.

great australasian beer spectacular

Australia’s biggest craft beer celebration, the Great Australasian Beer Spectacular is returning to Sydney, Melbourne, and Brisbane this May and June for a festival like no other.

Renowned as one of the world’s leading beer experiences, GABS brings together the best breweries from Australia and New Zealand for a whirlwind celebration of craft beer, including 117 brand new festival beers brewed exclusively for GABS—you can’t find anywhere else in the world.

GABS packs in 20,000 enthusiasts to the Melbourne edition, yet it is still one the best-kept secrets in Sydney, and with the new owners being local, they want to change that.

Whilst there are over 700 taps to choose from, GABS is not only all about the beer. There are wine, gin and whiskey stands and a hefty lineup of activities to accompany all that sipping, too, which will span a silent disco, roaming jazz bands, circus and sideshow performers, games and panels with industry leaders, as well as delicious food options to line your stomach.

This year’s GABS welcomes back some international rockstars with California’s Sierra Nevada, the USA’s first billion-dollar independent brewery and global sensation, Cloudwater from Manchester in the UK. Both these breweries will be pouring GABS exclusives and a range of their famous core beers. Visitors can get to meet members from the founding teams of both breweries on their stand in Sydney.

A few other highlights include:

  • Take a spin at Atomic’s very own Wheel of Pourtune
  • Test your skill at CBCo’s All Star Basketball Shootout
  • Transport yourself to Willy Wonka’s chocolate factory with Wayward and Batch
  • Find out who is making waves at the Up & Coming sponsored by Bar Barons, Konvoy and HPA
  • Become Mountain Goat’s next Air Guitar Champion
  • Enjoy a Bad Shepherd signature brew paired with vegemite American BBQ Hoagies & sandos
  • Throw your hat in the ring for a chance at Balter Tins of Glory – the highest-scoring team from each city will go to Gold Coast for the World Camps & compete for $75k in cash and prizes.

The GABS tour starts at the Royal Exhibition Building, Carlton, from May 19-21 before moving to the state-of-the-art ICC Darling Harbour from June, 2-3 and finishes at Brisbane Convention & Exhibition Centre in the bustling South Bank precinct on Saturday, June 10.
