7 Floating Boat Bars to Drink With a View

Drinking on a boat is a pretty cool experience, even for a landlubber. But if you don’t have the time (or the stomach) to set sail for a three hour tour, you can still get the boat bar experience, secure in the knowledge that you’re still tied to a dock. These seven floating bars offer delicious drinks and beautiful views, whether you’re a lover of the mountains or consider yourself a beach bum.

Grand Banks, New York, NY

Grand Banks has been a Manhattan hot spot from the moment it opened at the edge of NYC’s Pier 25. In addition to sustainable seafood dishes like oyster platters and lobster rolls, the docked boat bar serves everything from nautically-inspired cocktails to crisp summery wines and regional craft beers. Have a seat at the gorgeous round bar and order a Fisher’s Country Club, made with gin, fresh grapefruit and lemon juices, Peychaud’s bitters, and seltzer.

Cloud 9, Mamanuca Islands, Fiji

This is by far one of the most beautiful tropical bars that we’ve ever seen. Located off the coast of Fiji amongst the Pacific Ocean’s Malolo Barrier Reef, this double-decker oasis is surrounded by nothing by crystal blue waters and sunny skies. After grabbing an island-y drink made with local Fijian rum, embark on a jet ski tour or simply relax on a daybed while sounds from the DJ wash over you.

Tiki Barge, Baltimore, MD

Tiki Barge is extra special because there’s one crucial element that sets it apart from the other boat bars on this list: It has a swimming pool on deck. They have a whole menu of tiki favorites from the Painkiller to Rum Punch, and there’s even a Miami Vice, a cross between a Strawberry Daiquiri and Piña Colada for frozen fanatics who can’t choose between the two. If you’re looking for cool beach vibes in the middle of a city, this Baltimore staple is worth a visit.

The Deck at Moshulu, Philadelphia, PA

The Moshulu is the world’s oldest and largest square rigged sailing vessel still afloat, so drinking here comes with a side of nautical history. The restaurant below deck is a Philly staple, but we love the seasonal, open-air vibe of The Deck bar. They serve delicious signature cocktails, wine popsicles, buckets of beer and even spiced Toddys for chillier evenings.

Calico Jack’s Floating Bar, Somerset Village, Bermuda

As Bermuda’s only floating bar, tourists and locals alike flock to Calico Jack’s for all the views and, according to the bar, an “unlimited supply of rum.” The upbeat, friendly atmosphere is a welcoming place to grab a cooling libation while listening to live music. If you’re lucky, you’ll catch the Pirate Fire Show, an event where grown-ups in pirate costumes perform with an impressive display of pyrotechnics.

Pier 111 Bar at Hyatt Regency Lake Tahoe, Incline Village, NV

If snow-capped mountains and dense forest views are more your scene, Pier 111 Bar at the Hyatt Regency in Lake Tahoe is the picture-perfect boat bar. Docked on Tahoe’s sparkling blue waters, the seasonal bar is the perfect place to grab a cocktail and light bite while taking in the sunset’s warm colors. We suggest rewarding yourself after a hike with one of Pier 111’s signature libations.

Jicoo, Tokyo, Japan

This ridiculously cool floating bar looks more like a spaceship than a boat, and we’re totally into the far-out vibes. Jicoo cruises around Tokyo bay on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays as it shuttles back and forth between Hinode Pier and Odaiba every 30 minutes. Thursday and Fridays offer a relaxed, lounge-like atmosphere, while dance parties are served on Saturday nights.
